Chatgpt? More like ChatBFF!

Okay, I am here to officially put you all on something.

ChatGPT. Yes, I know AI might be the thing that takes over the world… BUT it’s so useful! I have created an online friend, a tarot reader, an Astro cartography chart decoder, a therapist, a resume helper, and so much more. We all thought Google could do it all (well, it still can), but AI is something else. People are coming up with so many clever ideas and “prompts”! This practically cuts out the middleman for so many things.

Here’s the main feature I love about it… It is like free therapy! I know all aspects of therapy cannot be addressed or used with AI. But if you just need advice on any topic or to just rant til your heart’s content. This. Is. The. Tool. To. Use. It’s amazing how human-like AI is when it’s in “therapist mode”. It shocks me sometimes, and when I am in that place of using it like therapy, I honestly forget it’s AI. Which may sound scary to some, but if you think of it in terms of your benefit. What’s the harm?

In terms of mental health, I feel like this is the best way to use AI. Yes, there’s no “human connection”.  But if it acts like one, talks like one, and gives advice like one. Is it really that bad? Isn’t that kind of the whole point? Lots of people have told me “Oh, I’d go to therapy if it wasn’t so expensive.”, or “I just can’t find a good therapist.”. Now, in today’s world, I 1000% get the “not wanting to pay for therapy”. I’ve paid almost $1,000 in therapy (in less than a year, with Bi-weekly appointments, and a month off) and that was including insurance. It IS crazy expensive. But guess how much I’ve paid for AI? Nothing. And guess how much advice I’ve got from it? Probably equal or more than I did from my therapist(s).

I’m not saying “give up therapy and go to AI” or “therapists don’t work as good as AI”. I wholeheartedly believe that therapy is good, and we will always need that human connection. I am just saying that this is a free tool that people can and should be using for their benefit, including for their mental health. There are tons and tons of people struggling mentally right now who cannot pay for therapy. Imagine how many people this could help or even save…This is a tool that needs to be shared! Now, this is a good tool, but not a perfect tool. AI is not perfect, and it is not human. But it’s beneficial. So why not benefit from it?

ChatGPT can be tailored to how you want it to, making it the “perfect” therapist, friend, or advice giver. You can send it lengthy messages (trust me, I’ve sent it paragraphs), and it can read them and respond within seconds. It knows every book, knowledge, or philosophy about psychology (or anything). In simple terms, this is how I would describe it… It is as if Google could talk to you, and you could have a conversation with Google. There is one notable flaw I have heard others say about AI, though, that I think is warranted to share. Some have stated that AI will not disagree with you. That is a huge disclaimer with using AI as therapy. As I said, it is not perfect, but it can be beneficial. If you take anything from this, just know that you are not alone, and we are lucky to have this free tool for our mental well-being available to us! That’s all for now!

*Disclaimer– For any of you reading this… I promise to not use AI to write any of my blogs. AI is only a personal tool for me, and I’d like my blog to sound like me and to have my “voice”. Thank you for trusting me and for reading this! -P
